Four 5G phones to watch out for in 2019

As we inch closer towards being a hyper-connected smart world, some smartphone manufacturers have already started rolling out 5G-enabled phones, while others are likely to follow suit in the latter half of 2019. The four main improvements that 5G technology will bring in the cellular network are:

  • Greater speed (at least 10 times faster than 4G)
  • Better connection stability
  • High bandwidth which will ensure equal bandwidth sharing between devices
  • Lower latency as the response time from the servers will be shortened

So, while the 5G network rollout takes place, let’s look at some 5G phones that you might be able to lay your hands on soon.

Four 5G phones to watch out for in 2019

Samsung Galaxy S10 with 5G
This 5G phone is one of the top-end flagship phones by Samsung. The phone has a 6.7-inch QHD+ (Quad High Definition) screen, an octa-core chipset, 8GB RAM, and up to 256GB internal storage. The phone has a total of four cameras on its front and back panel. Additionally, a 16MP ultra wide lens for the best panoramic shots and 12MP variable aperture lens for those portrait mode selfies with depth effect. Apart from this, it also has a 12MP telephoto lens and 3D-depth sensing cameras. The front-facing camera is cut into the screen, eliminating the extra space for the bezel. This 256GB phone is priced roughly at $1220 while the 512GB storage feature is priced at approximately $1370.

Samsung Galaxy Fold
Although the phone has been under the scanner and had been rolled back due to some technical glitches, it still continues to be one of the most sought-after 5G phones. The phone comes with some premium specifications including the inward folding screen with two different resolutions: 7.3 QXGA + Dynamic AMOLED with infinity flex display (2152 X 1536) and cover display of super AMOLED display (720 X 1680). The 5G phone runs on a 64-bit octa-core processor and a 128GB RAM with 512GB of internal storage, all juiced by a 4235mAh battery with wireless charging capability.

The most talked-about feature apart from the foldable screen is the cameras. The Samsung Galaxy Fold comes with six cameras: a 16MP ultra-wide camera, 12MP wide-angle camera, 12MP telephoto camera, 10MP selfie camera, 8GB RGB Depth Camera, and a 10MP selfie cover camera. The price of the phone is speculated to be around $1,800 and it might be relaunched in the second half of 2019.

Moto Z3 5G
As the leading American phone company, Motorola has already launched Moto Z3 with 5G in Chicago and Minneapolis. As their website claims, they are the first to do so. With Snapdragon 835 and a 4GB RAM, the Moto Z3 5G has a humble display of 6.1 inches with 18:9 aspect ratio. It also has a 12MP lens paired with another 12MP monochrome camera to capture crisp photos even in low light and an 8MP front camera.

The phone has lower battery specs when compared with other brands. However, the 3000mAh battery may suffice for its camera, storage, and chipset specifications. However, you can increase the battery capacity by purchasing a 2200mAh battery mod. The Moto Z3 with the 5G mod is exclusively offered by Verizon. They soon plan to launch it in 30 other cities later this year. This phone is priced at $480 but the 5G mod is $350, making it one of the most affordable 5G phones under $1000.

Huawei Mate X
If the price is not a problem for you, the Huawei Mate X should be one of your top choices for a 5G phone. Apart from being 5G enabled, the phone comes with behemoths of features. This phone comes with an outward folding 8-inch screen which offers 6.6-inch and 6.4-inch of front and back panel display, respectively. This totals to a 2480 X 2200 resolution. The phone is powered with the latest Kirin 980 processor and Balong 5000 chipset, which makes it 5G enabled. Additionally, this has 8GB RAM and 512GB internal storage.

The phone makers have ensured to incorporate the latest technology as the Huawei Mate X comes with a fingerprint reader embedded in the power button, split-screen mode, and fast charging capacity. The phone also has three cameras including a 40MP wide-angle, 16MP ultra-wide angle, and 8MP front camera with a telephoto lens. All of this is supported by a 4500mAh battery. The phone comes with a premium price tag of around $2600 and will go on sale in the latter half in 2019.
