The past year has been a rough one for Hollywood, with the outpouring of sexual harassment scandals. But in the midst of scandal, the show goes on. There are plenty of bright spots in the movie business – the stars of tomorrow who’ve already taken the silver screen by storm. Let’s take a closer look at some of the young actresses to watch out for this year.
1. Saoirse Ronan
Saoirse Ronan is a 23-year-old Irish-American actress who has been in the industry for almost a decade.
2. Florence Pugh

Florence Pugh made her debut with The Falling, for which she got nominated for British Newcomer Award at BFI London Film Festival in the year 2014. She also appeared in the movie “Lady Macbeth” as Katherine. She already made an appearance in The Commuter this year, and is currently working on “Fighting with My Family” (co-starring Dwayne Johnson) and Outlaw King. She’s definitely one to watch out for in the near-future.
3. Storm Reid
Storm Reid landed the lead role of Meg Murray in Disney’s most anticipated adventure movie of 2018 “A Wrinkle in Time” at the tender age of 13, working alongside a stellar cast that includes the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling. She is also slated to appear in the upcoming horror film Only You. This is one kid who definitely has the potential to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the greats!
4. Zoe Kravitz
Zoe has appeared in a number of popular movies over the past few years – including X-Men: First Class, No Reservations, and The Brave One. One of her most notable roles is Christina in the ‘Divergent’ series. Her upcoming movies include ‘Kin’ and ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’, playing the role of Leta Lestrange. Zoe is definitely a powerhouse you keep keep your eyes peeled on.
5. Olivia Cooke
Olivia Cooke is a British actress who first appeared in Bates Motel. In 2015, she received widespread acclaim for her performance in Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, playing a cancer-ridden high school girl. She’s arguably made a giant leap towards superstardom with her turn in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One. Her upcoming films this year include Dan Fogelman’s ‘Life Itself’ and also ‘Courting Dangers’.
